Formal Dining Room

The Formal Dining Room is beautifully furnished in the style of the period. A fabulous original painting of Venice looks down along the length of the room. The Victrola was built in 1906, the same year as the Mansion, and has a large collection of music from Tchaikovsky to folk songs. Guests often enjoy the traditional tones of this pristine antique.

The Formal Dining Room provides a classic setting for an elegant catered dinner. The room is also quite functional for a special business meeting.

Formal Parlor

The Formal Parlor is comfortable for a group of almost any size. One of the first things you will notice upon entering the room is the large curved window with its three matching Tiffany stained glass panels above. The lovely rosewood curved sofa dates back to the mid-1800s and is an excellent example of Victorian furniture that is actually quite comfortable.This common area of The Sheldon Mansion also has a beautiful Baby Grand Piano which is available for our guests to enjoy. You can tickle real ivory playing this 1925 work of art.

Solarium

The Solarium offers wonderful views of the valley and the mountains beyond. As you look out you can stand between the impressive Empire era Roman Ionic columns and have a close look at the detail of the capitals.

Breakfast is served here in the morning and any time of day our guests can find homemade treats and a stocked refrigerator with a variety of beverages. This is all included at no extra charge.

Veranda

The Veranda offers a wide variety of ways to unwind. The guests can sit back in the comfortable Adirondack chairs, dine or visit at the large patio table, barbeque on the commercial grill, or take a nap on the hammock around the corner. A gentle breeze always seems to be flowing.

The patio furniture and the Adirondack chairs are each made locally by proud family businesses that are nationally recognized.

Mrs. Sheldon's Sitting Room

Mrs. Sheldon's Sitting Room provides a comfortable room to visit with other guests. There are books, magazines, games, puzzles and a large television, VCR and DVD players. There is also a wide variety of brochures for area attractions.

The room is believed to be its original color, which was based on Mrs. Sheldon's love of Hydrangeas and Lilacs. The hue occurs in both flowers. The estate has numerous lilac and hydrangea plantings including a huge Lilac bush which reaches over twenty five feet high.

The many guest areas are a unique and enjoyable aspect of the Sheldon Mansion including the 10 acre estate overlooking the village and mountain views. Our guests have a number of options for private relaxation or socialization in an elegant setting. The Solarium provides a picturesque view of the Green Mountains and the village below. Guests can unwind in Mrs. Sheldon's comfortable Sitting Room, mingle in the graceful Formal Parlor, or relax on the sweeping Veranda. Mr. Sheldon's English Study serves as either a classic gentlemen’s retreat or as a highly functional office for business travelers complete with complimentary Wireless Internet Access and a printer, scanner and copier. The Formal Dining Room can be the setting for an elegant catered dinner or a special business meeting. The Inn and the ten acres of grounds are available for special events or smaller indoor functions such as parties and business conferences.

There is a 32-mile “Rails to Trails” walking path directly adjacent to the estate.
