The Granville Suite

The Granville Suite includes an extra-large bedroom with a queen bed as well as an additional room with two twin beds, and a private full bathroom. It is believed that this was the Master Suite occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon in the early 1900's. The additional room served as Mrs. Sheldon's Dressing Room. Interesting items from the Granville area are placed about the suite. These include an original sketch of the Mansion, which is especially valued as a wedding gift to Marianne and Stephen from Nancy Moses Alexander. Nancy is the great-granddaughter of Grandma Moses. An old history book of the county lists the Sheldon Mansion as the number 1 place of interest in Granville.

The Granville Suite serves well as a private sanctuary. It is also very useful as a family suite where the children are secure in the additional room and the parents have the privacy of their own extra-large bedroom. This suite includes a full breakfast, free WiFi and air conditioning.

The Champlain Room

The Champlain Room features the Lake Champlain region with items such as a painting of Lake Champlain with a traditional Adirondack chair in the foreground. You will also find a signed first edition book about the Ticonderoga, a steamboat which was launched in 1906, the same year that the Mansion was built. The ship sailed Lake Champlain until 1953 and now resides at the Shelburne Museum in Burlington, Vermont.

The Champlain Room has a queen-size bed and a private full bathroom. This guest room includes a full breakfast, free WiFi and air conditioning. This guest room has lovely views overlooking the village with a background of the Green Mountains of Vermont.

The Saratoga Room

The Saratoga Room has original items from the Saratoga Race Course and Saratoga casinos that had their heyday in the early 1900’s. There is artwork of the race course by Jenness Cortez, a prominent Saratoga artist. Books about Saratoga include photographs by Marianne's father, well-known Saratoga professional photographer, Bob Mayette.

Special attention should be paid to the beautiful antique bedroom set from the mid-1800's with wonderful craftsmanship and unique features. There is a lovely sculpture of a ballerina which pays tribute to the New York City Ballet, who summer each year in nearby Saratoga Springs.

The Arlington Room

The Arlington Room has the subtle theme of Norman Rockwell's exceptional work. While painting for the Saturday Evening Post he lived in nearby Arlington, Vermont. A very special print of "The Babysitter" is signed by our friend, Arlington native Lucille Towne Halton, who was Rockwell's model for the babysitter. There is also an original Saturday Evening Post cover with the painting "The Teacher" in honor of Marianne, who is a teacher. A variety of Norman Rockwell books and knickknacks are also to be found around the room.

The Arlington Room is located on the first floor and is more convenient for those with mobility concerns. It is an extra-large room with a queen-size bed and an extra-large private full bathroom. This guest room includes a full breakfast, free WiFi and air conditioning. The Arlington Room enjoys a lovely view of the estate's woods.

The Eagle Bridge Room

The Eagle Bridge Room has a subtle collection of items related to the charming works of Grandma Moses who lived in nearby Eagle Bridge. A selection of paintings, books and knickknacks are to be found throughout the room. Marianne has long held dear her friend, Nancy Moses Alexander, the great-granddaughter of Grandma Moses.

The Eagle Bridge Room has a queen-size bed and a private full bathroom. This guest room includes a full breakfast and free WiFi. The large picture window affords lovely views overlooking the village with a background of the Green Mountains of Vermont.

Bennington Museum in Bennington, Vermont, holds the largest public collection of Moses's paintings.

The many guest areas are a unique and enjoyable aspect of the Sheldon Mansion including the 10 acre estate overlooking the village and mountain views. Our guests have a number of options for private relaxation or socialization in an elegant setting. The Solarium provides a picturesque view of the Green Mountains and the village below. Guests can unwind in Mrs. Sheldon's comfortable Sitting Room, mingle in the graceful Formal Parlor, or relax on the sweeping Veranda. Mr. Sheldon's English Study serves as either a classic gentlemen’s retreat or as a highly functional office for business travelers complete with complimentary Wireless Internet Access and a printer, scanner and copier. The Formal Dining Room can be the setting for an elegant catered dinner or a special business meeting. The Inn and the ten acres of grounds are available for special events or smaller indoor functions such as parties and business conferences.

There is a 32-mile “Rails to Trails” walking path directly adjacent to the estate.
